This is probably way short but if I help someone by it costing me big time I will do it.

In December my wife and I were looking for a nicer vehicle. We had grown fond of the new Ford Taurus and wanted something with lower miles.

I called John Elway auto nation downtown and spoke with a lady named Heather. Heather informed me that with my income she could get me into a car no problem. I let her no that we were a one income family and I could only afford a $350.00 per month car payment. She said that this would not be a problem.

My wife and I headed to the dealership and she said that she could put me into a program car. Which I agreed to. I asked her about the financing she said she could get me a 10-12%apr. The catch was since this was Friday night she couldnt let me know what my rate was until Monday. She then told me that I could take the car home with a 20% rate and she would get me the lower rate that this 20% rate was just so I could take the car home.

I called first thing Monday morning and they told me Heather was gone. She stayed gone all day. I started getting a hunch and asked to speak to a manager. I stated to Shawn (sales manager) that I would be bringing the car back since it was before the three days. He informed me that if I made that decision that I would need a check for 4,800 dollars since my old car was gone. I asked him about the 3 day back gaurentee. He let me know that since the old car was gone that they would not honor that. I took the bait.

I then recieved a call 2 days later saying that they could not get me financed for the 20% rate that I would need to come in and sign another contract for 24%. I hit the roof. I talked to Jager the branch manager who informed me he would try to work it out. He never called until a couple days later. When he called he told me to bring myself and my wife down there to get it over with and sign the contract. I told him that I could not afford the 450.00 car payment. I also told him that I was not trying to be an a. Hole and he let me know that he thought that I was.

I was stuck. I had contacted all area papers. The television stations and just about everyone else I could think of.

And all I had to do was drop the car off the monday I told them I would bring it back and they would have been stuck with the car.

I am not looking for anyone to feel sorry for me. But I got laid off October. The car was repossesed in May. I just hope that someone thinking of buying a car will read this and maybe print it out just to ask questions.

I must have made 100 phone calls and even Ford told me that they did not interfere with customer versus dealer complaints. Well I owned some Fords in my day but I will never buy another one.
