My son bought a Hyundai Elantra in 2014. I (his mother) had to co-sign the contract although I did not want to sign but he had already signed over the trade in. He got behind in his payments and was told they would charge him $30+per day until the account was current. They sent us a letter warning repossession was possible. I tried to tell him he was in serious trouble but he has been diagnosed as chronic paranoid schizophrenic. On Jan 31 they came in the night and took the car from our drive. The night before he gassed the car and put his working tools in the trunk. After a week and my constant calling to Hyundai Customer Service, Collections, we have received no confirmation that the car was repossessed or where we could get back his possessions. Among the items was a tool belt given to him by a carpenter that taught him the trade and is now deceased. With no confirmation from Hyundai that the car was repossessed my son's troubled mind is in denial and believes "someone" stole the car and put it in the river. I need a confirmation from Hyundai and the name of the people who did the repossession. Keeping a person's personal property is against the law in KY. If they have disposed of my son's possessions, he needs restitution. Acct #20140800343723
