Very Poor Customer Service/Car Repairs - Car Repai

Went to this garage for repairs and this was our experience:. I brought my daughter's car to this garage by tow truck on Friday afternoon, 08/16, after it stopped running on US 131. I had called ahead and explained it may have broken timing belt or something else and was told "No problem, bring it in and we'll take a look at it". We left the car with them after being told they couldn't look at it until the following Monday, and that we would be called then after it was tested. This we understood and had no problem with. All day Monday went by with no phone call. We expected they may have been too busy and would surely call us by Tuesday AM. At 3PM Tuesday I called to find a confused staff who eventually said that the car was diagnosed and found to have "no compression in the cylinders", and was agreed that it would be too expensive of a problem to be worth putting into such an old car. I later in the day went to this garage to arrange getting our car removed and found that it was still in the very same place it had been left by the tow truck. When I asked what we needed to do to arrange getting the car off their lot, I was presented with a $70.11 inspection bill. I then brought up the fact that this seemed like a lot of money to look at a car without even bringing it into the garage, and that being told Monday and never getting a call was also a disappointment. The other service clerk then spoke out, "Do you see that ambulance in there?" pointing to their garage. "That's a Mecosta County ambulance, so it has a lot more priority over your car, don't ya think?" As hard as it was, I didn't make any comment to his statement, and asked the clerk I was first talking to if their garage would be willing to consider giving a break to my daughter under the circumstances (college student). He looked on his computer for a few minutes, and then asked to give him a moment while he went to ask someone else about it. He came back a couple minutes later to say his "tech" was willing to "go a little more than half off for a break" and that I would only be charged $50.00. I couldn't help but ask what a "little more than half off for a break" meant when it was still $50? I didn't get any verbal response, but did get a look like I was asking a crazy question. At this point I just stated "thank you" and that I would have to come back the following day to take care of the bill. This by far was NOT what I would have expected from a business that wanted to recruit a potential new customer. I experienced what I felt was an attempt to get the maximum dollars for very minimal service. What do you think?
