My parcel came via Collect Plus, part of the Yodel Group. It took 9 days to travel the 50 miles from sender to destination - not a problem. This was a tracked delivery so the 1 Kg parcels route could be accurately tracked during its high speed journey accross one county.
The Yodel delivery driver left the parcel ON TOP OF A TABLE IN OUR CAR-PORT in full view of passing traffic/pedestrians, where it sat until stolen by a passer-by while I was away for the week-end. I had expected the parcel to arrive in the 3 - 5 days as advertised.
A polite note was posted through our letter-box. "Parcel on top of table in car-port" This was accurate, but somewhat lacking in common-sense may I suggest.
Expecting a sympathetic response when I called Yodel - I was again politely told that the parcel was delivered to a safe place and that is ALL THE DRIVER IS CONTRACTED TO DO. It was confirmed verbally that as far as Yodel is concerned a Car-port in full view of passing pedestrians and traffic is a safe place!
Is this the result of a structured training program for employees. May I respectfully suggest that Yodel's customers expect a bit more.
I now insist on Tracked AND "signed-for" delivery options, in the hope that the courier driver has sufficient training to have the parcel signed for by the addressee and not anyone who happened to be passing.
