Recently I went to the Dairy Queen on Southland Drive in Calgary SW. When I first placed my order to dine in, I wasn't given a smile, eye contact, "How can I help you?" inquiry, nothing. Placed my order for a chicken strip basket with a side of gravy. Time to pay - no please or thank you whatsoever. It was so bad I felt like I was a bother to the person serving me, who was the Shift or Assistant Manager! Food comes - I was absolutely shocked at the portion size! 4 tiny strips - more like nuggets and a handful of fries. NOTHING like the basket in the picture. And this meal is NOT cheap! I didn't say anything at the time about the chicken because I already felt like such a nuisance. The gravy I received was in a tiny container and half full! I used the gravy and decided to ask for more considering there was only enough for 5 fries. Felt like the Inquisition when I explained it was only half full. "Can you bring me the container?" "Can you show me where it was filled to?" "Oh, so you already ate what you did get?" I thought, Um yes, that's why I am asking for more - because I ran out. If I was drinking the stuff from a giant container obviously I would realize that's my own gluttonous fault. I couldn't believe I had to 'make my case' to get more gravy; gravy that was paid extra for. Once again, no smile, no apology, but at least I did get more gravy. Another half-full tiny container anyway. Again, from the same young man with some type of Manager title. This was the second time I received very poor service at this location. There is a young girl there who has had absolutely no training or just a complete lack of awareness of how to greet and treat customers. I have never felt like a nuisance at a restaurant or otherwise in my entire life. I am a smiling, friendly and polite consumer who very rarely complains about anything. I realize it's fast food and the meal was only 10 bucks, but I could have gone to any family-style restaurant and paid the same amount for the same type of meal, received fair to generous portions and sit down wait service to boot Not to mention free refills and endless gravy.
Will not be going back to that location, that's for sure.
