Dear Rip-Off Revenge,
My close friend and I happily leafed through our local restaurant guide clipping a current coupon for a local restaurant named Marinara Ristorante, it is called. We only tried this place on New Year's Eve because of the coupon, and because it specifically did not say "except holidays" on it. We made reservations days before New Years Eve.
On New Year's Eve we arrived at Marinara's and placed the coupon on the table. When the waitress came to our table she quickly told us, "The owner will not honor our coupon tonight because it's a holiday." We quickly retorted that the coupon specifically did not state that on it, and that seemed to be an option other restaurant owners clearly stated on the face of their coupons in the "Yankee Clipper Magazine" to specifically state "not on holidays". She said, I will ask the owner, but he will probably say no." When the waitress returned, she told us the owner flat out said, "No"! She said the owner stated, "It's not our fault that, "Yankee Clipper Magazine" made a mistake! We always have that exclusion on our coupons!"
We had no choice, even though we chose the place for the coupon-It was New Years Eve and every place else was booked up now!
They made us upset, and ruined our nice dinner out by lieing and being greedy. We know they were lieing because my friend has kept the "Yankee Clipper Magazines" for the year, and their coupon NEVER states "except holidays" on it! None of them have, and the magazine told us they did not make a mistake. They have the original copy sent by the restaurant.
This restaurant called "Marinara's" was greedy and lied over a lousy $20.00 off our dinner, which they mixed up and we didn't know because of all the sauce and breading, and figured out half way through our meal! It was terrible! At any rate the owner lied to be greedy on New Years Eve of all nights, and I feel everyone should know how greedy he is, and that he lies, does not honor his coupons, and has bad food to boot! We also left smelling like smoke because a worker or the owner additionally stood near our table and blew smoke at us till we left! I have asthma and could not breath well when I left! He literally ruined my evening out, which I don't go out often, and it was to be a very special evening, and a treat! They caused me emotional distress over this entire evening, and I am sure I cannot ever go out on New Year's Eve to a restaurant again!
