Mismanagement & Employee Abuse in Pasadena
Hear it straight from someone who used to make feeding you priority #1.in theory Pizza Hut has an awesome set of principles; in practice, they are almost non-existent. I believe in the product, it's an awesome product. If prepared according to the specs that Pizza Hut set then there is no better Pizza.
Pizza Hut had largely been it's own worst enemy. The training system that Pizza Hut uses is also awesome, in theory. It is just very rarely put into practice.
If Pizza Hut employees received the training as indicated by the training track system, all us pizza lovers would get great service, and great pizza. Sadly to say a majority of the time an employee is set down in front of a tv and said watch this. That is the extent of their training.
From the first day the standards are in the gutter and the manager is quoted as saying " I don't care how you guys handle it, just bring in the sale." This, is the root cause. The virus has been opened, because from that day on the employee is doomed to be average or worse, lacking the care dept. You can tell those employees by their most common answer - NO, CANT DO THAT.
As customers of the best pizza around, and in the interest of a great dining experience for you and your family the next time you are served a great pizza by someone who says hi, thank you, and please come back with a smile and a good attitude. Thank them, because they are the exception.
I really miss Pizza Hut, or I should say the Pizza Hut that exists in theory.
When I left Pizza Hut and took lots of "baggage" with me because I felt that hurting other people would serve no purpose to exact revenge by ruining another career. Well I was wrong: My silence has allowed the malady that festers within the Pasadena area to continue.
The Pasadena, California area Pizza Hut Stores (Alhambra, Pasadena, Highland Park, Altadena 9-stores total) were managed by a dishonest, incompetent, unfair area manager. His inability to properly lead and manage a group opened the door for corruption, lies, and arrogance.
They have promoted and hired people who are not properly trained and are in competent, and worse thieves and untrustworthy. The Restaurant Training Manager is responsible for much the disgraceful condition of Pizza Hut in the Pasadena Area. He has covered for his sister, who has slept with half of her crew and at least 4 drivers and a shift manager.in another store. Worst yet they had sex in the units on the dough table just to name one incident. This manager while still being trained stole money and purchased several gifts for one of "her" drivers. The Restaurant Training Manager was also responsible for hiring his brother who while working at the Alhambra store used to bring his TV in and watch tv while the crew worked. On top of that he was stealing money from the cash register. The manager from the Alhambra unit was promoted by said Training Manager as well. Just within the last few weeks another very loyal, trustworthy, young employee with tons of potential was fired because the manager accused him changing the employee's hours. The fact is that because the manager was not trained properly and has no integrity HE changed the employees hours in order to meet his labor targets. When he was discovered he blamed the shift manager. To further show you how dishonest and how mismanaged this store is I tell you this. They had a cash shortage of $300 the manager demanded $100 from both shift managers and $100 from his pocket to make it up so that he would not have to explain the loss to his superiors. There is so much more dirty laundry that it is unreal. Another manager tells his crew that he doesn't care how they handle their problems in the workplace as long as they bring in the sales.
So you see, the culture, the sickness that is festering. It is a sad thing because it is only a few, but upper management is suffering from severe "disconnect syndrome" they were more worried with the % under 39 (per. Of pizzas that get to the customer on time) that with real issues.By the way, when I left the area was at an all-time high for % under 39. Now guess how much of that was real? Pizza Hut has great pizza and it does have the potential to give legendary service. Think for just a second about the dough makers, pizza makers, the person who takes your order, the driver who takes the pizza to your home; they deserve legendary service from their management teams too. The employees who work under the conditions that I outlined in my posting have been cheated in more ways than you can imagine.
How can one justify a manager taking 15-30 off employees time so that he can look better on a P&L. What kind of impact would an act such as this have on a crew. What kind of pizza is that pizza maker going to make, or is the driver really going to hustle to your door when he/she is told "I don't care... By management. Is it possible that this uncaring manager also doesn't care enough about his customers to discard expired product, that he is so worried about how he looks on paper that he will risk your health?
My hope is that Pizza Hut would connect better with it's employees and see what really happens in the units and place a greater value on those people who take your orders, make and deliver your pizzas. If they did my guess is that the pizza delivered to your table/door would be the best.
It really sucks that Pizza Hut, although it has an awesome product, totally sucks because no matter how good the product the people who serve it are dispicable.
