Boatyard Bar And Grill
Treated terribly for brunch

My fiance and I went to Boatyard Bar and Grill today for brunch. We go there quite frequently and enjoy it because they have outdoor seating, so we can bring our dog (s).

This morning when we arrived, I went to the hostess stand and requested a table outside because we had our dogs with us. She took my phone number and said she would call me when our table was ready.

She called about 20 minutes later saying they had a table, so we went to be seated. They seated us at a table for 2 which was crammed in a space along with a table of 4 and another table of 2. Last summer this same space only had one table which could seat up to 4 people in it. Needless to say, it was very crowded. We ordered our drinks, our waitress asked our dogs names and petted and greeted them, and took our order.

Soon after we got our drinks, a larger table with more space opened up so I went inside to ask if we could change tables. The woman I spoke to was one of the owners, and not the original girl, and she told me that dogs were not allowed in the outdoor seating area. There are 6-7 tables on the deck, and 2 of the other tables also had dogs present. She agreed to let us change tables, I told her that we wouldn't bring them in the future and thanked her for accommodating us.

We picked up our things, and moved to the new table, which hadn't been wiped off yet. The waiter (a different server than the one we already had) rudely told us that the table wasn't ready. We said that was fine, we would wait. He then asked us if we could tie our dogs up in another area. Both of our dogs are and were well behaved and quiet, but we said if we tied them up, they would likely whine or bark, so we would rather not. He got very rude with us, picked up our drinks and walked back inside. He came back and was continuing to argue with us over the presence of our dogs, and when we pointed out that other people had dogs present and even the table we were trying to use had had one there before us, he got very belligerent with us.

We decided to leave and asked if we could pay for our drinks. He ignored us and continued to set up tables and wouldn't speak to us. So we left.

We will not be back. The hostess should have told us that they changed the policy, or they should have had the deck posted with signs, or they could have POLITELY spoken to us about it. We went up the street to another restaurant where we AND our dogs were welcomed.
