Ripped-Off Twice in a Row!

My boyfriend and I started making a habit of going to Chevy's twice a week, after he got off work for margaritas and/or dinner. One night, we went inside at 9pm (as usual) and the night manager came out and said they were closed.

The hours on the front door clearly say open until 10pm, and I pointed this out to the manager. She responded, "well, I guess we can make you a quesadilla or something" - no apology for closing the kitchen an hour early. I asked her why they were closing the kitchen early, and she responded, "we've been slow tonight" - again, no apology.

We left the restaurant, and when I got home I submitted a complaint online. To my surprise, I received a personal letter of apology from the manager and a gift certificate for a free meal for two and two margaritas. I thought the whole thing was over - until we went back to use the certificate.

We showed the waitress our certificate before the meal, and proceeded to order. After dinner, she brought the check and I handed her the certificate. She came back a couple of minutes later, bringing us a bill for $13.50 - the cost of two margaritas plus tax. She said the certificate was no good because the margaritas we ordered were strawberry, not lime.

Nowhere on the certificate did it say the margaritas had to be a certain flavor, but she refused to take it off the bill - even though we had shown her the certificate before we ordered! Needless to say, that's the last time I've eaten at Chevy's since the incident.
