For Christmas I ordered a box of chocolates for one my friends through the See's Candy website. A few days after the fact I get a call from my father asking if I had a certain credit card. To which my reply was yes. He asked if I had ordered See's Candy recently and had delivered to a certain city and again in my shock, I said yes. I asked my father how he found out (not that it really mattered that he knew) but he said he received an e-mail confirmation and thought it was fraudulent. He said he called up See's Candy after getting the e-mail confirmation only for them to relay it all to him over the phone. So my father not only manages to get an email confirmation that I put NO WHERE on the order form, but he also manages to get more information out of the See's Candy customer service rep. I asked the customer service rep how they got my father's email and why they sent him a confirmation to begin with. He gave me some scripted response saying "We apologize for this happening to you and I will write in your account to not do it again." All the while he was laughing. I couldn't believe it! With identity theft so high in this country and around the world, this is NO laughing matter. Luckily, it was my father that got the email. Had it been anyone else, who knows what would have happened.
