A Bartender Stole $30 From Me Ripoff

My son and I drove down from upper Michigan to see a Cubs game last Saturday, April 29 in Chicago. We had dinner at the ESPN Zone. Nice dinner experience. Then we went into the arcade/bar part of the club. I sat down and ordered a beer while my son played some games. I gave the bartender, Dan a $50 dollar bill. There was no doubt in my mind that it was a $50, because it was the only cash I had on me. I had paid for dinner with my credit card and my son had his own spending money.

Dan the bartender stood around with my bill for a while, talking to people, and hanging out by the cash register (between 6:30-6:35 pm). I thought it was a bit odd how long it was taking him to get it in the drawer. I looked a way for just a minute or so at my son and when I looked back, Dan was coming with the change for a $20. I immediately told him I had given him a $50. He argued with me and I then asked for the manager. The manager (Mike Nespoux) came out, counted the drawer and said it was not over. This did not surprise me, because I'm sure Dan made the switch with a $20 before it ever made it to the drawer. I then asked the manager to view the tape from the camera that is more than likely right above the register. He said he would and came back about hour later.

He said the tape only showed $20 bills being put in the register. I asked if I could view the tape and he said no, not unless I got a subpoena. I doubt he even viewed the film, if they even have a camera above the register. I am certain that Dan made the switch and it's probably not the first time. I got ripped off and I was the one that was made to feel like a criminal. The manager was rude and to top it off, as I was walking out, Dan the bartender gave me a smirk that confirmed to me, he was definitely guilty. $30 may not seem like a lot of money to some people, but it was to me, and I am very upset about this and I want my money back.
