My wife and I needed some extra income, and thought we'd give "home-based" businesses a try. I saw JMW's ad in a small local paper. Not being familiar with any home based business or how to go about it, I gave them a call.
It's funny how now, after seeing this website and reading the MANY negative responses to this "cough-cough"... Er.."company"... I now see what a scam they are.
I was given the SAME exact pitch as everyone else (you don't think they could be just reading a script now do you? Nahh... That would be too petty and low, right?
Well, unless they just so happen to have just ONE opening every time someone calls by sheer chance, I'd say they were trying to pull a fast one.
I was told the same old BS line everyone else was given. I was told the job was probably "taken" already, but then the guy on the phone put me on hold and pretended to check if there was any positions left. (He was probably just standing there picking his nose for 30 seconds while he pretended to "check".
Sure enough, he came back on the phone and told me it was still open.
So, I was curious and asked a few questions, and he assured me that it was a legitimate (cough-cough) "company", and explained what I would be doing, and also of course, tried to butter me up by telling me how much money I would make and that my money would be "refundable".
Well. The way i look at it, if I went into my nearest Wal Mart, I don't think they'd ask me to pay them nearly $100 first JUST for a CHANCE to work.
So, I became VERY skeptical when he asked me for money, and then became TWICE as skeptical when he told me I would "just" have to write a check "by phone".in other words, give him my checking account "routing number".
There was absolutely 0% chance I would give any stranger from some no-name company that I never heard of before, my checking account number. (In my head, I could imagine waking up the next day and seeing my entire bank account liquidated by some swindler).
So, unlike some other unfortunate and well meaning people on this board, I didn't fall for it, and I later was curious about this company and so I went on the web to get some info on them.
The guy from JMW gave me some BS website to go to with some apparent "testimonials", but I know the best way to find out about a company and see if it is legit, is to look them up yourself, and not to go to the website they wanted me to.
That's when I saw this website which was VERY informative and was the first web link that came up when I typed up JMW's name in the Google search engine.
On the one hand, I feel good that I didn't trust those bozos and send them any money, but on the other hand it's a shame they have been able to get people just looking to make a decent living and get by, to send them money. Even worse that they are so LOW, to then attempt to send a credit agency after people who had the wherewithall to stop their payments before those crooks got hold of their hard earned money.
After seeing all thse negative reports, I was skeptical of these phony "home based businesses" before (they almost ALWAYS seem to ask for money when you call them, and as soon as I hear that, I run the other way.)
Now after seeing how low these guys are, I'll be 100 times more skeptical of ever trusting any of those ads in the papers for these so-called jobs.
They apparently are 99% of them, SCAMS. (I have called some other ads as well, and there are other scammers out there not going by the JMW name trying to advertise for the same phony HUD jobs, and asking for money as well.)
Just follow this one rule from now on.
If they ask you to PAY for a job (I thought it was US who were supposed to get paid... Wasn't that the whole reason for finding a job to begin with?) RUN THE OTHER WAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
I hope some of you that have written about this company and have been swindled eventually find some legitamite work and get some good luck for a change.
