Pronto General Agency
Pronto General Insurance Accepted responsibility and NEVER PAID CLAIM!

I was involved in an automobile accident - guy ran a red light. Caused over $4200 dollars in damages and incured another $800.00 in rental car charges during repair period.

I filed a claim on the the guys insurance. They verfied the accident accepted responsibility, and instructed me to get the car to a repair shop. After that Pronto never sent an adjuster to the repair shop. They attempted to close the claim with an offer of $2200 within 3 days of the claim, which I refused not knowing what the cost to repair would be. Over the next 4 weeks I called thier offices, faxed them, and sent certified letters requesting to send out an adjuster and authorize the repairs. They never returned my calls, except once when the claims representative "pretended to speak spanish" not english. Can you imagine. A texas based insurance company and they pretended to not speak english. They never responed to my faxes or letters.

After 4 weeks and getting no where with Pronto. I paid for the repairs and sent them a demand letter for payment. They responded with a check to cover the auto rental and a check to cover the cost of repairs. They took the receipt from the repair shop went line item by line item and commented that 1. They could get the parts cheaper. 2. They don't like thisparts vendor. Etc. Etc. Bottom line I have a bill for over $4200 and they offered to pay $1142.57

Again I refused and countered with I will be suing thier client in small claims court for the total amount. I won the case and now have a judgment for over $6000.00 and 5% interest annual interest.

Pronto markets themselves to spanish speaking people who in the market for 30 day auto insurance policies. Which in effect is a form of fraud as this allows the vehicle owner to register his vehicle, get license plates, and update his D.L. Which is all required by state law. Then the insurance expires and his still driving around unprotected.

In my case we were 8 days into a 30 day policy period. Before I left the scene I had verified his insurance and filed the claim thinking I was covered. Boy was I wrong.

It is so very clear from the treatment by Pronto that they this process down to an ART form. They start off, with yes sir with handle everything. No problems, etc, etc. But that changes very quickly and your basically on your own. They will not anwser your calls, letters or faxes. Etc. They put you on hold for 20-30-40 minutes. And then leave thier clients open to lawsuits.
