Best Buy - Household Bank
Ripoff ruined my credit and has horrible customer service

I went in to Best Buy to buy a computer. When I was informed of a promotion going on I elected to open a credit card with them to take advantage of a discount. I continued to work with a sales person while someone from the credit department got my credit application taken care of. When we were done I made a huge mistake. I signed all of the places the girl had me sign with out reading. I asked her if we would have any increased fees or rates for any of the other features of the card. She told me no and for me that was good enough.

What a mistake that was. Two weeks after getting the computer we got a bill in the mail for a credit card through Household Bank that already had a balance on it for an annual fee. I never wanted a card from them so I called the number on the card. They informed me that I had gotten it when I got my Best Buy card. Luckily, they were able to waive the fee and close the card. They told me that this happens often.

A couple of months later we paid off the balance of the Best Buy card. After that we received a bill in the mail stating that we owed $50. I knew that we paid the balance off so I called customer service to find out what happened. Apparently it was for some feature of the card that I was never told about. They told me that they would not waive the fee because they had my signature stating that I wanted it. I was really upset about it but felt that I had no other way but to pay it.

I planned to go back to the store where I had been taken advantage of and dispute it with them. If I was still unsuccessful I was going to pay the bill there in person. I found out that they could not take payments on cards there and so I needed to mail it in. As my luck would have it my wife and I were blessed with a new baby.in all of the excitement I forgot about my payment. We did mail the payment and assumed that it made it in on time.

Then we went to refinance our home and found out that we have a 30 day late payment on our credit. My question is, is this justice? I not only had to pay $50 for believing someone but now I am stuck with a late payment on my credit.

When I tried to get a phone number for someone to call and dispute this all I could find were these reports. I finally got a hold of a customer service number and was put through the worst service nightmare ever. Nobody was willing to listen. They would all sit while I told my story and then recite that I had signed and it was my fault. I can not believe that nobody would listen. I am disgusted by the service I received and hope that nobody else has to go through this.

I do not know if I can blame the credit sales girl as I know that she must be under pressure to sign people up for this product that benefits nobody but the bank. If I die my wife will not be worried about my $700 debt for a computer from Worst Buy.
