Never had an account but was called to pay over the phone my due $377 or $70 late fee will be imposed

Recently, I have ordered one more AT&T phone for my mother-in-law. She messed up with the phone, so my wife brought it home to setup the ringing correctly. Suddenly, I got a call from the Credit One Bank, and the lady claimed that I have $377 overdue and had to pay on November 23rd - subject to $70 (!) late fee. They are so caring about customers as calling them (on Sunday!) to allow to pay the due over the phone.

Since I am an Information Security professional, I have concluded that something is fishy...

1) The call was made on Sunday when most of the banks are closed for customer support;

2) Even the lady knew my name, she called on the phone that I never entered in any online or bank application, in fact, I don't even remember the phone number!

3) Why would the bank become so honest and nice that it wants to save me $70? Naturally, I refused to pay and said I don't pay over the phone, and I am going to verify and will be calling back.

I found that I had no account with such a bank; that the phone number 866-372-2508 is the phone they have called me from. Somehow, the crooks managed to find out my new phone number and actually call from the bank (are they working for the bank?).

By the way, look how many complains out there!
