I opened an account with this bank online in early August. Their website has a big banner with the details of a promotion on it with pictures of ipod touch and other electronic gifts that they give away for opening an account online. I lived and still maintain a permanent resdience in the area that this promtion was targeted to.
I opened the account with the address in Riverside county, California where I reside. This is one of the requirements of the promotion. I was planning to travel for a few weeks after that day I opened the account so I called their support line to tell them I was traveling and they recommended that I change the address where the paperwork to open the account was to be mailed to.
I asked if that would affect my eligibility in this promotion that I signed up for and they answered that it will not affect it. I gave a new mailing address to send the paperwork to only and then went on the trip. I soon found out that I needed to change my trip as I was called to return to a job in New Mexico temporarily for a short contract. I called the bank to tell them to resend the paperwork to the New Mexico address.
Since a lot of time passed since I opened the account I decided to call to find out why I never heard anything about the free gift. I received a reply that I was not eligible for the promotion becuase I did not reside in the target area. I explained the situation to the support people and they just stood with their position and refused to listen to a word I said.
They are a big ripoff company who falsely advertise that they give gifts to lure customers and then they reneg on the gift. Do not deal with this company and avoid their free gift offers.
