I received a call on my cell from a Texas number. A "John Matthews" informed me that there was a case against me for fraud. He then transferred me to his supervisor, "David, Senior Attorney for the Office of Law and Investigations". David informed me that Cash Advance USA had issued 4 affidavits against me for fraudulently borrowing money from them and not paying it back.
I have never borrowed money from Cash Advance USA. He went on to say that I had committed bank fraud and that the affidavits would be transferred to my employer and that I would lose my job.
I informed him that I did not receive any money from the company, and that I work for the government myself. He told me to accept a lawyer from Cash Advance or pay the money back. He had my social security number, email address, etc.
Upon hanging up, I did an internet search of both Cash Advance USA, and the Office of Law and Investigations. That's when my suspicions were confirmed. This is all a scam. I have subsequently reported the issue to Cash Advance Usa, as well as the authorities in the city that the phone number is registered. The scary part is that they have so much of my info. They both spoke with middle eastern/indian accents and were very hateful and threatening. These people must be stopped!
