Corporate Credit Success sent me an email about their new loan program that lends to small businesses without the hassle and interrogation that banks give you. As a start-up business owner I was interested so read the full email and followed up on their requirements to receive funding.
Among proof of being in business for at least 6 months, the previous 2 months' bank statements, and completing an information form the email stated that a minimum 520 credit score was required. To prove your credit score they gave me 3 options.
A. If you have access to an online credit monitoring send us your username and password.
B. If you dont you can signup for a free trial of CreditCheckingToday.com through this link, then send us your username and password. Http://www.corporatecreditsuccess.com/freescore.php
c. If you cant or wont provide either of these the underwriter will require your social security number and will do a hard pull on your credit. Save yourself the inquiry and choose option a) or b).
See how they sucker you into the first 2 options. Well when you actually click on that free credit score link you go to a company called Credit Checking Today. I called them to verify that Corporate Credit Success was a partner and they denied it and were alarmed that CCS would require my login information. They asked me to forward them the CCS emails so they could look into it further.
I also looked into it further and tried to contact CCS to find out what was up. They have no phone number, the email they have on their website did not go through, and they are a ghost to the BBB too. I replied to the original email only to get a response that I needed to go to some other link to directly contact the lenders and needed to create an account for a different free credit site. This one was called True Credit.
So why use True Credit in one email and suggest Credit Checking Today in the another email??? And why require the login information if to do nothing, but go in and steal ALL of the customer's sensitive information??? Shouldn't a legit company with the power to lend thousands to people with little in return be able to run a credit check on their own? Any why no phone number??? They say on the site it's to keep costs low, but how much can a phone bill cost and any legit company has a live human that customers can talk to. So why trust the person on the other end of the email???
CCS doesn't need any special software to hack your identity, they just need you to believe that it is okay to hand over your credit score username and password so they can walk into your account and take your social and credit card info.
Delete Corporate Credit Success emails, report them, and move on!
