After receiving several letters from Camco, for my wife's EX, we finally contacted a family attorney. He said, simply, "ignore it".
Then, 2 days ago, my wife received a phone call, saying that she owed CHASE bank over 12 grand, but they would settle for less. I don't know the exact figure. The debt had been discharged in a chapter 7 bankruptcy, many years ago. Camco said "It makes no difference. You still owe it." That, of course, is a crock.
Once again, we called our attorney.
Next day, we were called 3 times in an hour by Camco. Our lawyer called them, and was treated rudely. "How can we be sure you are a lawyer? You might be calling from a pay phone..." Blah, blah, blah.
Our attorney informed us there is a pending lawsuit against Camco. A "Cease and Desist" letter is written.
Don't fall for this scam. Use your head—contact an attorney, or your state attorney general.
