I recently had a problem with the billing or payment at your company that left me extremely upset. I am writing in the hope that you can help me resolve this situation.
I just picked up my 2003 taxes from your office located at 4642 Meridian Ave. San Jose, Ca. 95128. The cost for H&R Block to complete this years tax return was $396.25. This is the most we have ever paid for tax preperation services. Last year we paid $290.00 for both my daughters and my return. Our tax situation has not changed since last year. No additions, no changes that would generate additional forms. I asked our tax associate (Leroy Gore) for an itimized list of the charges.
Leroy allowed me view the charges on his computer screen, but said he could not print the list. The office manager was summoned over. Hershall J. Boring said he could print the list of our charges, but that the itimized list could not leave the office. This is appalling. We paid $396.25, and we cannot get an itimized list of what we were charged for. Hershall Boring offered to give us a $25.gift certificate to go toward next years tax services at H & R. Since we will never use H&R again, the certificate would be worthless. Leroy then offered to complete my daughters return for no charge. Since I had just completed a 1040EZ for my daughter, this offer was also worthless.
Leroy went on to say that no refunds could be made, that all monies is sent into the corporate office, and that any refund would have to come from corporate headquarters. It appears from what we were able to see on the computer screen, that we were charged for scratch paper that was used to figure on, not forms that were submitted. This a major ripoff by H & R Block.
It's very unlikely that I will ever use your company again, and I doubt seriously that I'll be recommending you to other people.
