Summary: My car was stolen on 2/14 and AAA was notified that evening. The car was recovered and had been burned to the ground. AAA initially set me up with a rental after taking my statement. It appeared the event wouldn't be as bad as I thought. WRONG!
Once the adjuster took my statement he sent me a release of rights and authorization to run a credit check, obtain phone records to include cell tower useage, tax records, access to my home, and a host of other things I was not willing to release. So, I the case was referred to an investigator.
The investigator basically deemed my questions as to the purpose of this information and release as "suspicious" rather than being a smart person who's concerned with giving such information. It did not appear to be relative to the claim so it was natural to ask. I eventually agreed to releasing a credit report authorization in hopes it'd satisfy them. When the investigator was asking for it he went silent and was obviously aggravated by my questions.
It was approximately 20 days later when an attorney contacted me and requested to set a date for the sworn testimony. It was delayed once by my hospitalization and once by the attorney. That was 4/27.
Here it is, nearly 3 months since the incident where I was vicitimized by a creep theif and my finance company is howling for money. I've had to purchase another vehicle, pay an extra $1,500 in taxes I wouldn't have had to assuming the claim was settled in a reasonable time plus I've had to come up with a hefty downpayment because I would have two car loans at the same time. This doesn't even count the higher interest rate I must pay on the new car (which I went from a 2010 to a 2005) or the interest compounding on my old car loan.
So basically, AAA has done everything in their power to ruin my credit, stress me out to the point of hospitalization and jerk me around by not providing regular contact so I know what to tell the finance company.
It is my opinion, and I'm willing to state this to the highest court in the land, is that AAA is a company who's drive for profit and it's greed has turned it into a company who's willing to screw over it's customers for a buck. Their rates are 1/2 what others were and now I know why.
