In short, this is a partial chronology of our attempt to save our home. We are good, hard working people with an income loss due to medical issues. Our home went from having $40k in equity to being $11k underwater. We have never defaulted on a financial obligation in 30 years.
Feb. 2009: applied for HAMP modification
March: Request was sent from servicer for documentation.
June: Servicer sent letter stating no loss mitigation options available.
Sometime in 2nd half of 2009: Our servicer was bought by another bank using TARP funds.
August: We were accepted into the HAMP trial Program by the new servicer (with the same documentation we were rejected with in June).
We were told to miss a payment to get behind on the loan.
Oct. 2009 March: Made HAMP Trial payments.
Jan. 2010: Servicer requested resubmittal of documentation.
