Like quite a few other people here I had money taked from my account by SKS Associates only I didn't even get the courtesy of a letter. Also like a number of other people my credit card equipment lease ended many years ago and when it ended I had a zero balance meaning I had paid all the fees requested. I have already contacted my stat's c0onsumer group and filed a complaint.in addiotion I have also filed a dispute with my bank to recover the money they took. There are a couple of items I was told by the consumer agency that might help others.:
1. You can't sell a closed lease. Considerations are that you've notifdied the leasing company in writing and fulfilled the requirements like returning the hardware, etc. But the deal is once a lease is closed there's nothing to sell.
2. The leasing company has three years to start collection proceedings. If you're like me and your lease ended over 5 years ago and this is the first you're hearing of any unpaid fees, tough luck for SKS.
3. Since a closed lease can't be sold then rights to debit your account can't be transferred. Can you say "Bank fraud"?
Of course your state laws may vary but this company seems to have gone WAAAAAAAY over the edge legally.
