I have had this cc for a few years now and have never missed a payment or been late. I had been paying more than what was due each month but since moving last year I was only paying what's due at this time. I had a bankruptcy 5 yrs ago because of medical problems; I have now been on disability for going on 3 yrs. I have however remarried in 1997 and my husband has credit with several cc companies. His credit is excellent and I have tried very hard to rebuild mine.
I am on his accts with permission to buy as he can't drive so I do most of shopping (he is 100% disabiled military since 1977).in September when I received my bill I could not believe my eyes to see arp rate from 18.99% to 28.99%!
I called providian and they said I should have received information about increase. I told them I had not, and to send it to me.
I received information sent on Sept. 22, but still did not understand why. I called them again and was told they checked credit bureau and because my name was on his accts I was too much of a risk at this time. I asked if I had missed or was late on payments they said no. I asked if they were counting my husbands income and they said no. So how can they count his cc to me?
