Received notice from Spiegel/FCNB of changes to their credit card account agreement.
If I didn't agree with these changes the account would be closed and the balanced paid under the terms currently in effect.
My late charge to remain at $25, yet CMS charged $35.
Two days before due date, I realized my online payment, nor snail mail would get the payment there on time.
This is when I found info on back of bill to call CMS. My first time noticing the change. I called 5 different times to talk with someone who understood my concern which was to make a payment over the phone, before due date.
Given the fee of $8. No problem. The account is in my ex-husbands name. At issue, my ex-husband's name is not on the checking account or debit card I wanted to use.
I have been sending e-payments and/or paper checks to these people since 1996. They have cashed every one! They have documentation that I am associated with this account, right down to my personal info. Why not except the payment over the phone from ME? I even had my ex on three way to answer all their questions-no luck.
The irony, my ex has never charged or paid a dime on this account. They would allow me to verbally place orders over the phone and knew I had his permission. (Documented with FCNB)
Instead, CMS charged me $35. Payment would have been on time had they excepted my check.
