Received an unsolicited check from Budget Consulting Services - 300 Centre Pointe Dr. Virginia Beach VA 23462. Who claim to be "leaders in mystery shopping and customer service evaluation" and claim to be registered with the BBB (not in their database)
The check is for $2,938.68, Harris Trust and Savings Bank, Roselle, IL to become a 'Consumer Survey Specialist'. Also included in the letter is an unprofessional looking form to be faxed to 866-740-9267. The letter states to contact Andrew Davis 514-625-2360 (per White Pages a cell phone in Montreal, Qc.) for instruction within 14 days, and is signed by a Michael L. Jahncke.
Assignment of the mystery shopper would be to evaluate KFC, MacDonalds (misspelled), Burger King, IHOP, Popeyes, Money Gram, Western Union, Staples, JC Penney, Walgreens, KMart.
I did not call the number provided and did not attempt to cash the check. I suspected fraud, checked BBB, address, phone and fax numbers, usacomplaints.com, com and other consumer sites.
I suspected fraud, was not a victim, and reported the incident to the FBI.
