HLAA (homeowners legal assistance association) is a fraud!!! I have spoken to many people who thought they would help them save their homes, come to find out they were working with an attorney who just got arrested for mortgage fraud!
Look up Mark Zirogiannis on google and you will see. HLAA and Justice Paper Processing does not care about any of its clients! They do not return phone calls and take months to even contact the bank. They are too buzy to spend any time on any given client.
All the clients that HLAA referred to Mark Zirogiannis lost their homes. Now they have a new attorney David Galanter who is up to the same tricks as the old attorney. The attorney is based out of NEW YORK and the HLAA and the whole processing staff in in FLORIDA?!?! This means the attorney is practicing law in all 50 states when his license is only in NEW YORK. They attorney doesn't even touch the files! They pay young high school kids $10.00 an hour to process these files and try and call the banks. These people have never even owned a home themselves! I have spoken to many people that worked with the HLAA and even the people who marketed for them say they are a fraud!
I am warning everyone out there who is thinking or has already done a modification with HLAA. Get your money back! Call your bank and charge back every penny you have paid. You will see they will lose your home and when you call them for help they will ignore you!
If you have done a modification and have been a victim of HLAA, call your attorney general! Report them! Let the state legislator know they are stealing from people. I have included their address below and telephone number so you can report them.
People are losing their homes, money and are given false hope because of these slick bastards. DO NOT BE A VICTIM! FIGHT AGAINST THESE SCUM!

RE: URGENT ISSUE REGARDING THE LAW OFFICE OF MARC ZIRIGIANNIS
Dear Sir or Madam:
It has come to our attention that your file has been wrongfully directed to our office by the Law Office of Marc Ziriogiannis, hereafter the Law Office. The Homeowner Legal Assistance Association, hereafter HLAA, nor any associate or related company ever requested or authorized the transfer of any file to this or any branch office. The HLAA is NOT a law office and as such we are not permitted to work directly on your file. You have signed an Attorney Retainer Agreement with the Law Office directly and as such they are to be held accountable to you. To state that a file has been transferred is not only inaccurate but it is also impossible. The borrower authorization was signed directly with the Law Office and ONLY allows the individuals employed by the Law Office appointed in the authorization the ability to deal with the lender on your behalf.
Due to the overwhelming response from clients it can be assumed that not only has the Law Office been negligent in their duty and obligation under the Attorney Retainer Agreement, but the Law Office is apparently unwilling to service their clients. The Law Office has instructed you to contact the HLAA without any permission or right. The HLAA has officially removed the Law Office from our network due to numerous infractions of HLAA policy. Not only has the Law Office violated the terms with their clients, but they have neglected to follow the guidelines of the HLAA as well. The HLAA is no longer affiliated with the Law Office in any manner.
Although the HLAA has no fiscal or legal obligation to the file, it has arranged for alternative methods for your file to be processed. If you feel that the service of the Law Office has been below standards or expectations, it is your right under the Attorney Retainer Agreement to request or demand a refund.
In addition, you may wish to complain to the appropriate authorities about the negligence of the Law Office. The New York State Attorney Grievance Committee may be employed as a vehicle to file a complaint. We encourage clients to contact them if they believe it is appropriate; all complaints must be made in writing. The contact information for the New York State Attorney Grievance Committee has been included below for your convenience.
Unfortunately, we do feel that the reputation of the HLAA has been tarnished by the actions of the Law Office. Our goal to help has been delayed, but we have been able to make additional arrangements for legal assistance. There is the possibility to arrange for alternative counsel to take over your file and process it properly at a substantially discounted rate. If you choose to retain the new counsel through the HLAA, a standard, non negotiable flat rate of $500.00 will be applied. Regardless of your decision we do recommend attempting to obtain a refund from the Law Office if you believe it is appropriate.
The HLAA ensures that the new client counsel obtained has been certified with the American Bar Association, hereafter ABA, for over 15 years. Additionally, counsel has successfully in practice for over 10 years. The attorney has been brought on specifically to deal with the issue at hand, but in addition has experience processing this type of file. If you are not happy with the attorney within the first 5 business days you will be issued a FULL refund of the $500.00 without any question. After five business days you are entitled to a partial refund of the $500.00 contingent on the amount of work completed on your case.
The HLAA is baffled by the apparent negligence of the Law Firm and their actions. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience caused by the Law Office. We take this matter seriously and will attempt to help in any way we can. If you do not wish to obtain new counsel please refer to the contact numbers below to file complaints against the Law Office.
