This 'gentleman' had 'worked us for months', his website (now gone) led us to believe that he had a long history in energy finance. He eventually lead us to believe that he had an investor ready to move on an energy business start up my wife and I had put together. On a conference call, having claimed to have reviewed all of ourdocumentation this investor said he was ready to move. At that point Mr. Davenportrequested a 10,000.00 USD retainer, because of the financial stressthis start up was putting us through, we could only offer 4,000USD. Ofcourse he took it. I have several emails to the effect that a 'term sheet' was forth coming from this investor. It never came. Regardless, we traveled 10 hours buy car to Manhattan, payed hundreds of dollars to have our four children looked after during this time to meet the "investor" who simply said "no" during a short lunch meeting. We drove back devastated. 4K poorer.
We never heard from Baker Davenport or the "investor" after that except for one short, rude email. His website, www.environmentalfinancial.com went down at the same time, never to reappear.
This investor led us to believe that he was ready to move so that we would pay Mr. Davenport the retainer. Mr. Davenport has now set up shop under http://www.davenportfinancial.com which very little to do with energy.
Stay away from this man. I have dozens of emails containing his misrepresentations.
