Prudent Shoppers Research sent me a fake Cashiers check for $3870.00

Prudent Shoppers Research sent me what looked like an authentic cashiers check, with Capital One's logo on it.
Attached was a letter with intructions of how & where to spend the money posing as a secret shopper. I went to corner store to try and cash the check, and almost got arrested for fraud.
