Carolina First Bank
The South Financial Group, Sells Entire Merchant Services Portfolio!

ATTENTION MERCHANT SERVICE CUSTOMERS
If your business processed credit card transactions with Carolina First Bank your account has been sold. Your business is now processing all transactions with Evalon Merchant Services as of September 1.
Without notifying a single merchant, Carolina First Bank has sold it's entire merchant portfolio to Evalon Merchant Services. Bank employees working in the merchant services department were only notifiied 1 hour prior to the sale. All those employees must now re-apply for their jobs with Evalon.
Be advised, you have the right to know who is processing your transactions. All Carolina Merchant Service customers should monitor their statement very carefully from this point on. Eventually representatives will come to your business to re-download your point of sale terminal. Many merchants will have technicial problems, simply because of normal phone line interference. Terminals should never be downloaded at a location, unless a backup terminal is available.
This was a very sneaky move by a bank that is obviously selling off revenue streams and laying off people to stay afloat.
