Express Consolidation is one big scam and a bunch of liars. I have been trying to consolidate my debt with this company since August.
The only reason I even got involved with Express Consolidation was because I saw an ad in the paper about personal loans through Del Ray Funding and I needed to try to get a loan to go to college.
Del Ray Funding referred me to their debt consolidation company, Express Consolidation to consolidate my debt so that they could offer me a loan.
My boyfriend also got involved with Express Consolidation too because he wanted to combine his Credit Card Debt into one payment. I myself, had a lot of collections I wanted to get paid.
Express Consolidation candy coats everything and makes themselves sound like this wonderful company, and that they will help you out so much. They tell you all they can do is improve your situation.
It's been almost 2 years and both of our situations are worse than if we had been paying our bills on our own.
They have sent payments late to both of our creditors numerous times. They also sent a bounced check to one of my creditors for $20!
Considering they charge almost $40 a month for a "paperwork" charge (I was never told of this charge when I signed up with them), it is very had for me to understand how they could bounce a $20 check.
I had a Capitol One credit card that they were making payments on that is in collections. I pulled a copy of my credit report a couple of months ago and it said that I had been 60 days late on it.
When I called Express Consolidation to ask about this, they assured me that it couldn't be there fault. They said Capitol One must not be reporting it right.
I asked the worker for the number to the collection agency that has my Capitol One account, because I wanted to talk to them personally (I never seem to get statements from the collection agency).
The worker pretty much begged me not to call the collection agency. He told me that they had gotten me a lower interest rate and that me calling might affect it and ruin the lower interst rate. He told me he would check into what was going on.
Two days later, I get a phone call from another Express worker. She tells me that they don't have the right account number for my Capitol One account.
At this point, I am thinking where is my money going then? I asked her this, she also tells me that it has to be an error on Capitol One's part, because they have been sending them payments every month. She also tells me that she is going to look into the situation further and get back to me.
Two more days later, I get another phone call from Express Consolidation. They tell me that Capitol One is not willing to work with them because I defaulted on the account in 10.
I asked them why a worker told me a few days before this that they had lowered my interest rate, and they didn't have an answer to that.
I also asked them why they just found this out almost two years after they started making payments to Capitol One and they said that sometimes it takes a while to find out whether a creditor will work with them or not.
Two years seems like a long time not to know this.
I am sorry this is so long, but it is 2 years of frustration. They lie every time I talk to them. It is never their fault. It is always your fault or your creditors fault.
I made a payment to them on 4/25/03 and my bills still aren't payed. My boyfriend made his payment on 4/30/03 and his bills still aren't payed.
We didn't make our payments this month. Screw the first payment!
My boyfriend called and pretty much told them that he wasn't going to make another payment untill they paid his bills. They told him that it was going to hurt him more than them. We doubt they will pay our bills off of the april payments we sent because we haven't sent them more money.
I would rather make my payments on my own. At least I know my checks won't bounce, my payments will be on time, and it doesn't cost me $40 extra a month for "paperwork".
