We bought our home in CO in 1999 from Equicredit and had a fairly pleasant experience. Equicredit was run out of town in 2001 for unethical business practices and we were notified that Fairbanks Capital would be our mortgage holder. That's when the nightmare began.
Almost overnight, we were charged late fees although our payments were at least 2 weeks early and we even over paid one month!
Mysteriously some of our payments were put into a "suspended" account. Our automatic phone pay option was taken down and we stopped receiving statements. After numerous letters asking for explanations sent to the Jacksonville correspondence location, nothing has been resolved and we cannot reach anyone with any common courtesy or professionalism at Fairbanks. We are left on hold, sent to voicemail boxes that are full or simply hung up on.
We continue to send in our payments even though we receive no correspondence and Fairbanks continues to cash our checks whenever they please. Usually after another bogus late fee has been assessed.
These people in the call centers, especially in Jacksonville, are a total nightmare. They refuse to provide any kind of account statement or invoice, but their attorneys have no problem contacting us!
Please let me know if there is any class action we can join in CO!
