My friend received check #009546 =$2,985.50 from Financial Group and Consultant ATP, mailing address POB 310, Mortin Grove, IL, 60053, and a letter that stated she won $49,000. The check for $2,985.50 is to cover taxes or administrative fees. The letter instructed my friend in order to claim her prize she must call long distance # 450-455-3701. I called the number with my friend on the phone. A man by the name of John Dixon answered the phone and my friend told him she was calling to claim her prize. He asked her for the winning reference # on the letter, ATP11435A. After she gave him the reference # he asked her did she answered any surveys on line? My friend said yes. Mr. Dixon pulled up her name and address by the reference # she gave him. Mr. Dixon stated she must deposit the check into her bank and give him a call back so he can instruct her what to do next. He said that when she called back she would not have to give any of her bank or personal information, only her winning reference #. Mr. Dixon stated he will give her instructions how to collect the $49,000. I researched the website to see exactly where Mr. Dixon was located by his phone #. I found out that it was a cell phone which belongs to:

I immediately told my friend this sounds like a scam and do not deposit the check.
I called John Dixon back a couple days later and was informed by a elderly woman that he was dead.
Please send out a warning to consumers about this check scam via on line surveys so they will not be ripped off.
