Barclays Bankcard
Cancelled MC. Barclays charged annual fee and 5 months of late charges on annual fee and reported to credit agency as 120 days delinquent

I decided to get a US Airways MC, as BofA had cancelled their relationship with the airline. I charged thousands of dollars on the card and found I had been credited about 600 airline miles. I decided to quit using the card and it had a zero balance.

About one year later, I opened a statement from "Us Airways Master Card" with a $75 annual fee and 30 day late charge ($29) on the annual fee. I called and was assured that the fees would be reversed and the account closed (December). I had a zero balance an not used the card in over a year.

Since I pay all my bills online and get few paper statements (except junk mail), I didn't open another letter from them until February. It was a "generic" letter indicating that I had a deliquent balance on a credit card and to call immediately and was signed: Customer Support, Barclays. Since I only have 3 cc's and none were ever delinquent and I was unaware I had any accounts with "Barclays", I was hesitant to call. I did, and explained the situation again, talked to "Lazell" was assigned a case # and was told it would be sent to "the remdiation group". By now I owe over $200 in annual fees monthly late charges.

2 weeks later I used my AMX card at a local store and my card was declined. I immediately called AMX and was told that because my credit score had dropped so much they were now monitoring my limit. I've had this AMX card for 15 years and NEVER had one problem with them.

I immediately pulled up my credit report and found that Barclays had filed a "120 day delinquent" entry on my credit. YIKES!!!

I called Barclays again and got a snotty, unprofessional "kid" on the phone and he said he could take care of it immediately if I would pay the $75 annual fee. I asked for a supervisor and before he put me on hold I heard him laughing really loudly. Yes, my credit is a big joke to Barclays.

The "supervisor" Zach, Ext. 35345, was equally unresponsive and said he would turn it over to another group and assigned another case #. He could not find the original case #. I doubt very much he was a supervisor due to his completely unprofessional demenor (probably friends with the laughing guy who sits in the cube next to him). We spoke for over 20 minutes and he said it would be taken care of and I would receive a letter in 2 weeks. Unacceptable resolution, but he just didn't care. He then explained that the situation "was my fault" for not following up on the original phone call made in December and repeated several times that "this happens all the time". He told me to call AMX and explain the situation to them. Right!

By the time I hung up with him my blood was at full boil and I was halfway to a stroke. Like all the other comments, they just honestly "don't care" AT ALL.

I would like to see if anyone has an email address for anyone in a senior position with this company. I will try to call them every day if they think I am not following up in a timely manner. I fear I will get another rep from the pool of incompetent, unprofessional slackers who actually have a job (why, I don't know) until my credit is restored and I can be completely finished with the idiots at Barclays. Do not open a card with this company. There is no benefit (pathetic airline miles), and the aggrevation is time consuming and has negative health benefits.
