I applied for a credit card throught American Credit Educators for an ACE visa card. I recieved the card however never recieved the educational matterials. I called them and they said it was sent. I returned the credit card with in the 30 days. I could not see paying for something I never recieved.
One year later I see my equafax report it says I owe them $300.00 How can I owe if I returned the card and never recieved the information package. So I called them again. This time they said that they could send me that package. I said no I want them to reverse the charges reported. They said they could not do that.
I then was told that they are a new company who took over the ACE credit cards and program because the other one went out of busniss. I have not heard from them to date.
This year 2003 it is still on my equafax report. With $300.00 owing and 120 days past Due. I have dispute in to equafax. I have been working hard at cleaning up my credit report and debts.
I had a bad divorce where legally I am not responsable for these debts. And ACE reported that it is an individual account when in fact if they had accurate info it would say joint account. Anyways, this company is not and has not conducted in a manner that i think is fair and reputable.
Forcing people to buy an Info kit and then not sending it, then not honoring the 30 day return polocy, then telling me they went out of busniss and new company bought debts, reporting inaccurate information to credit companies and hurting my ability to gain credit in the furture, housing (I am a single Mom), and limiting my jobs (some jobs you need fair credit) and ability to finacially care for my self and child. (single mom, hearing impared-disabled)
What do I do now???
