Let me start by saying if I attempted to tell my entire story, I would be here all day! Therefore, I'll only state short facts about what I've encountered with US Bank... It is UNBELIVEABLE!
Opened 2 checking accounts in 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. Without requesting, was sent 2 US Bank Credit Cards. Not aware of the future nightmare, I used the credit cards. BIG MISTAKE!
First off, the local US Bank branches are of no help with US Bank Credit Cards as they claim it is a different department???
I'm not sure if what they are doing is legal, but this is how they operate: If you exceed your limit-$39.00; if your payment is late -$39.00.interest is added AFTER your closing date and if you are late, the interest % is increased. If your balance is under the limit, maybe by $50.00 or so, the interest will jack it up over your limit and then they get to add $39.00. (By the way, I do take full responsibility for using credit cards.) Every month, they are changing my payment due date?
I authorized a $155.00 withdraw from my checking account to make pmt. Had just enough to cover payment-they took out $165.00-now checking account is overdrawn. (Local bank reversed overdraft.)
Called CC services; was told the $10.00 was a "service fee." Asked why nobody informed me of the additional $10.00."We did." Boldface lie! I requested proof as "the conversation was recorded, right?" "Yes." Said they would call me back... Not only have they not called me back, they are actually avoiding my calls to them! The original minimum amount due was $56.00 on the 17th. Made cash deposit of $60.00 in checking on 16th. Local bank never posted deposit. Went to bank, with receipt. They found it on the 18th. Local bank called CC Services and had them reverse the 2 $39.00 charges. How in the world did my minimum payment go from $56.00 to $155.00? (Rather $165.00!) Interest?
Second CC; called CC Services on due date and made payment via checking to CC. Called CC Services immediately after payment to ensure all was ok. She informed me payment received and on time. Got statement yesterday and, Guess What? Yep, $39.00 late fee added!
One CC Ser. Rep told me payment had to be made before 4:00pm on due date. Another one said had to be made by 6;00pm on due date???
Made debit card gas purchase of $13.13-Account balance before purchase was 17.80. After purchase $16.80. It took them almost 9 days to actually take out the $13.13. (This I did on purpose. Do ya think 9 days is a bit extreme?)
So, Mr. "I am the Law", go back to law shcool! I can just here you now "maybe you should make your payments before the due date" Butt out.
