I have had a mortgage with Ocwen for almost five years. My original mortgage was with People's Choice and was sold to Ocwen. During this time, I went through a divorce, job change and eventual job loss. I have extensive documentation of every person I spoke to at Ocwen (95% of which were in India and could barely speak english). I was in constant contact with them and was handling my financial problems in a responsible manner (I thought). I went through the forbearance program, as well as, a loan modification procedure. My mortgage was current for the first nine months of 2008. I fell behind on my mortgage again and was working with Ocwen to bring my loan currrent. I was given the down payment amount, and the monthly amount and the start date for the program.
To cut to the chase — or long story short — one day a couple of weeks later (early February — about a month ago) my husband came home from work during the middle of the day — nobody was at home. There was a notice stuck to our front door from the county sheriff. IT WAS A NOTICE TO VACATE THE PROPERTY IN 10 DAYS!!! Our house had been sold!!! I was told that my foreclosure had been put on hold and there was no for sale date — as we were working together on an agreeable solution. Ocwen sold the house to themselves — under the name "LaSalle Bank". I have now had to hire an attorney and pay more money to fight them. I have filed bankruptcy for protection. I am not even behind on ANY OF MY OTHER BILLS — everything is current. I have just struggled with my house, but was working to resolve the problem!
This is wrong and these people are criminals. This should not be able to happen in the United States of America.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE would someone take them on that knows how to bring them down! I am an intelligent individual with a professional career and can not believe that this is allowed and considered legal.
This is my home. This is my children's home. If I can not afford to stay here, then I accept that — but to be "robbed" of my home — to be lied to — to be misled — to be cheated — to be "swindled" — THIS IS WRONG!
Everyday the media is full of Obama's Stimulus plans and help for the millions of Americans who are struggling to keep their homes. I believe justice is NOT being served with the Ocwen homeowners who are in trouble. When I am an active participant in trying to resolve my financial difficulty and then they sell my house RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER MY NOSE!!!
I have all of the documentation, emails and paperwork from every dealing I have ever had with Ocwen. I am on hold on the phone for 45 minutes to an hour every time I try to reach them. The numbers I am given are for people WHO NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE!!!
I am not a deadbeat who refuses to pay — I have a good job, my husband has a good job — we are tax-paying Americans. We play by the rules! So should ocwen!!!
