Harassment from NCO Financial Systems Inc

I had some debt on a Chase Bank Credit Card that I was unable to pay due to being unemployed for over 6 months. I am now working a job that barely pays for my rent, gas, and a little food to keep me alive. I am now recieving phone calls from NCO Financial Systems Inc claiming that I owe them $1414.48 wich is a lot more than I ever owed to Chase Bank. The limit on the credit card was only $1000, and if it had not been for interest charges and fees piling up from the time I was unable to pay the card would have been paid off twice from payments I have made over the years.

After recieving the first call from NCO, I called Chase Bank to inquire about my debt and the person I spoke with on the phone told me that the debt had been written off as a bad debt and declared uncollectable. Armed with this new knowledge I had stopped accepting the calls from NCO. When I stopped answering the phone for their number, their number started popping up on my phone anywhere from 5-10 times every day. After about 2 weeks of not accepting their calls I recieved a letter in the mail that states that I owe them a debt of $1414.48 and that if I did not respond to them within 30 days that the debt would be assumed to be valid.

I called up NCO the day after I recieved the letter at the phone number on the letter and informed the person who picked up the phone that I do not owe any debt to NCO. Without a word he had another person on the phone in less than 5 seconds who started telling me that I did owe this money. I told him that I have never accepted any product or service from NCO, nor have I ever agreed in any way to a debt from NCO. He immediately put me on the phone with another person who told me that I owed this debt and asked me how I would like to settle the account. I informed the 3rd person that I did not owe NCO anything. He once again started to tell me that this was a debt that I owed, in the middle of his sentence I was tired of arguing with them and hung up the phone. My phone instantly upon hanging up started ringing from their number. I answered the phone and the first think the person said was "Why did you disconnect the call? This is a debt that you owe." I responded "Because you are obviously not listening to what I am telling you, and I have nothing further to discuss with you.", and immediately after finishing my sentence hung up the phone.
