An Amcorp loan representative claiming to be from New York City contacted me from an internet loan application. They told me that I had been approved for a loan of $15,000 of which a security fee of $1796.31 had to be paid to the lenders. They said that they would issue me a cashier's check of the amount and 3 monthly payments, that the check is usually issued from their Treasury department from Halifax, CA. Once I received the check I was to cash it from my checking account (as soon as the funds were available) to call them at their toll free number of 1-888-644-2379 ext. 701 to get instruction on how to remit it to the Lender's assigned Insurance Broker.
After remitting the Security Fee I am to call them back on the same toll free number to confirm my remittance. The lender will release and transfer the loan amount directly into my bank account within 2 hours maximum, on confirmation of receipt of the security fee. They even sent me a 9 page contract stipulating that the loan will be for 5 years to the lenders who go by the name of Credit Direct Financial Group, 257 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010, www.drcredit.com.
I searched high and low on the internet for Amcorp Finance Incorp, New York, no such company. Or no such website for Credit Direct Financial Group, New York. As a matter of fact, the address they listed belongs to a BBB in New York. When I inquired by e-mail to Amcorp ([email protected]) person's names is Dim Roberts. He said they and Credit Direct Financial Group were located in the BBB building. He still hasn't provided me with websites.
There are websites for Amcorp, but I'm sure they are not the same company. Also, www.dr. Credit.com is a legitimate website, but I'm sure they have nothing to do with this copycat company. Even their lettter head does not look official, the contract from Credit Direct is a form letter with black borders framing the wording. Oh Yes, they require to forms of ID, one with a picture, a utility bill, and a VOIDED CHECK to provide them with banking information which supposedly would enable them to make a direct deposit of the loan amount directly into my account. Has anyone else been sought out by these companies? What do you think of this?
