It wasn't so much the fact that Bernie Madoff ripped people off because a lot of people lose money in Wall Street scams every day —and there are probably hundreds if not thousands of BERNIE MADOFFs out there who haven't been found out —yet.
Where did he disappear the money? That is a question that many who were defrauded, many of their life savings, would like to ask this 70-year old criminal who laughingly helped himself to $50 MILLION of other people's money in one heck of a PONZI scheme...
Which makes me wonder what happened when Bernie Madoff was president of the NASDAQ stock market? What did he permit to happen.
The main reason i am writing this is the outrage that i feel that the innocence project of texas will probably be shut down and innocent people will die because most of their money came from madoff's scam organization!
Project innocence paid the costs for dna and legal fees to retest persons on death row and see if they actually committed the crime with which they were charged.
As a result of their work, over 40 innocent men who would have been given lethal injection are now free!
Innocent people who would have been put to death by the state of texas and were sentenced to die and they were proved innocent!
There were quite a few more convicted people who had requested the assistance from the innocence project of texas but now, who knows what will happen?
I can no longer contribute money to them because i lost my job in the economic meltdown. My retirement had been invested with a company which had been invested in madoff's rip-off.
Was he the reason for the economic melt-down?
Will his rich and influential friends to whom he contributed campaign funds get him out of the criminal justice system???
He is 70 years old and is currently under house arrest in his posh, luxury residence! May he rot in hell!
