Greenpoint Mortgage/Capitol One
Ignored Into Foreclosure

After being laid off from my previous job, I contacted Greenpoint Mortgage to inform them that I would be late with my mortgage payment. They proceeded to automatically dial me twice a day for the next 3 months until my phone was disconnected. I asked for a workout package and provided my new financial information to them twice. They continued to claim that they were working on my package while I continued to receive a notice of default, notice of trustee sale AND a letter stating that Countrywide would now be handling my account.

After contacting Greenpoint, the customer service person said they "did not have a sale date for my house and they were running 30-45 days behind anyway". I arrived home the week after Thanksgiving to find a 3 day notice to quit posted on my gate by the realtor hired by Greenpoint. They foreclosed on my house 4 days before Thanksgiving, even though they led me to believe they would work with me on keeping my home. Countrywide said they couldn't help because the house had gone into foreclosure and therefore no loan exists to modify.

Dear U.S. Taxpayer:

I had this home for 8 years, making on-time payments for the amount I owed. I also rolled over 20% down and did a full doc loan to qualify. I have now shown them HIGHER income from this new position, yet they want you to pay $200,000 for the second lien that I was willing to pay. I tried, I tried, I tried. So much for 20 years of hard work and a 750 FICO. Richard Fairbank... Rot in hell.
