I don't know where to start except from the very beginning. My husband drove truck for a living. He was in N.Y.C. On 9/11. He was about 2 blocks from the Trade center when the first plane hit. He is a Search and Rescue Chief in Pa. And also belongs to the Pa. Task Force. His natural instinct was to run to the towers and help. He heard bodies popping, and people jumping and people on fire. As he was helping people and the trade center collapsed he was trapped in the American Financial building for about 45minutes when he and a fireman managed to get free from all the rubble and the building collapsing on them.
He was there for 2 days helping. When he finally returned home he was having some real problems mentally and physically dealing with this. During this time his search and rescue team had been dispatched to go to the landfill to help sift through the rubble that was coming from the Trade center. He responded. Since my husband was having a hard time driving truck because he would pull his truck over anywhere if he heard a loud noise and curl up on the floor of his truck he lost his job. At one point he had to put himself into a crisis house to get away from the press and t.V. And needed someone to talk to he had gotten very depressed and wasn't sleeping.
Because of him having a wife and 2 children to support He found another truck driving job. During the course of his employment he was going in and out of the hospitals for everything from his liver enlarging to kidney problems to breathing problems and his last trip into the hospital they told him he is now testing positive for HepC. Because of him going in and out of hospitals his job laid him off therfore losing his medical coverage on top of his paycheck. He started to collect unemployment comp.
We fell behind on our mortgage in Dec. 2002.in Jan we sent them a payment with the late fee and a letter stating what was going on and to please bear with us that we would be sending out another payment in 2wks. And would get completely caught up by the middle of Feb. Before we could even send out another payment our check was returned by Fed-Ex stating that they would not except the check because it was overdue and that we had to pay the full amount NOW by Western Union or they were going to foreclose.
My husband called them the day we got this check back and spoke to a Charles and then a Lorrie and explained we don't have this kind of money TODAY and now it was going to cost more because of late fees and having to pay western union. They would bearly let my husband speak they kept cutting him off and were very rude and nasty.
They did not want to hear anything, they wanted their money TODAY. They said they wouldn't except the check because of Notice Of Intent to Foreclose.
The bottom line is we don't have that kind of money or we wouldn't have fallen behind. What my husband did was send them the one payment of the check they returned to us via western union and can't send them anymore for 3-4 days.
There intent is to foreclose on my house instead of allowing us to get caught up in the time frame we HAVE to work on so they get their money. We don't know what to do and this is really taking a toll on all of us including our 2 children. I would never recommend them to anyone. I have never dealt with such uncaring and nasty people in my whole life. If anyone has any ideas on how to get through this or where to turn please help us.
