Washinton Mutual broke into my safety deposit box and stole my things.
The last time I entered the vault and accessed my box was in Dec. 2005. I went to the bank a few weeks ago (Sept) to access the box in the vault and found it to be open.
The bank had no explaination and they did not have my items. They said the box was not drilled, the payments were current, and the box was FOUND open sometime in 2007. (More than a year after my last visit)
Besides for not having my things they have been charging me for a safety deposit box that was not secure since 2007. They also admitted that they had no record of attempting to notify me of the breach in security, although they kept billing me for the box.
After revealing the above information the branch manager then started asking me "Why have you not entered your box since 2005" (irrelevant to the issue) then asked me "what was my intention the last time I accessed the box" (irrelevant) and finally asked what I had in the box specificly... Even though they are not supposed to know what you have and if there has been a security breach on a box they say their policy is to collect your things and put them in a tamper proof envelope... Which they stated that they did not have one of those with my name on it.
So in the end Washinton Mutual some how opened my safety deposit box, emptied the contents, left the box open, and kept charging me for the unsecure box lacking my items.
Not sure what to do at this point since the bank just failed last week. I doubt they will be compensating me for my loss when they are up sh*t creek with out a paddel
