Repossessed car even though account was in good standing Colorado

After reading other reports, I had to share our story. We bought a 2004 Pontiac July from a used dealer in Memphis, TN. At that time, we had one car that was paid for and was in desperate need of another car. We got it for $363 per month and the purchase price was $13,000.00. Well, just like all of the other reports state, Centrix became Peak 5, Peak 5 became Flatiron, and Flatiron no longer services my account as of August. Each time my account was switched, I had to hustle up all of my bank statements, receipts, and documentation of any phone calls made to prove that I was not behind. They gave a deferrment but it was not honored. The past few years of dealing with them have been absolute hell! I started paying them automatically out of my checking account and would often set up payments ahead of time around paydays to ensure their payment was received.

At the end of July, I spoke with a rep. From Flatiron, Peak 5, whoever, and I was told that I had somehow shorted them $43. Well, I had extra money then and I sent the money western union a day later. I sent $100. August 4th was the last day they serviced my loan and August 19th, my car was repossessed!!! I came home after work and found a raggedy looking letter on my door that had scratch outs and was very unprofessional looking. The note said I needed to call the number below or go to jail. So, of course I called the number. It was the repo company. He came to the house but my husband was gone to work in it. I immediately called my new company (who hadn't sent a statement or anything) and was told I needed to pay $540 to keep it. I borrowed the money from my mother and drove 1 hour to get it. I was told that if I paid it online (western union) and give the repo man the receipt, this would go away. I complied. At 11:00 P.M. He returned, I showed the receipt and he still took my car. He told me that he had to. He said that if I called them in the morning and give my money control number, he could bring it back before my husband even goes to work. I did that too, and the lady at this SST company told me I shouldn't have given my car over and now I needed $1200 plus the cost of storage. I have been on the phone with all types of rude and ignorant people. One lady even told me that I needed to shut up and listen to her and that it was not her fault that I didn't pay my bills.

How do you prove to a company you don't owe them? I took a day off of work, drove to the bank and got statements for every month they said I hadn't paid. I even placed them on the phone with my banker and she told them when payments were given and amount. They can't prove I owe them, and I can't seem to prove I don't. Right now, the car is in the repo yard scheduled to be sold and I have paid $13000 for the car but I still owe $10000! Do the math.

To God be the Glory because we were able to get a nicer car at a reasonable rate and very low monthly payments.

This company should not be able to get away with this. If you can help us, please contact us.
