This company (Ageis Receivables Management) has been calling several times a day trying to collect on a JC Penney past due account. The first time they called was in june 08, they tried to get me to make a payment to stop collection proceedings. I knew there was no balance but my concern was that there was a past due account due to identiy thief. I informed them that I did not owe balance and that this was a scam and not to call me again. I called JC Penney and verified my account had a zero balance and it was in good standing, They also cross-referenced my home phone number and verified there was not another account in my name. I also got a credit report to verify no collections or adverse reports on my account.
Several weeks later the calls started again. I was given a call back number of 800-727-3593. The number that comes up on my called ID is 201-210-3618 which is outbound calls from New Jersey. I called the FTC and placed a report and found out from the call back number that the collection agency was Global Vantedge in CA and that they have several fraudulent collection reports filed under this company.
The FTC instructed me to send a certified letter to the company informing them to stop collection calls on a debt I did not owe. As I am typing this report. I received another call which I informed them of the registered letter and not to call me anymore. Boy are they persistent, because they still are insistent that I owe this debt and need to pay. DO NOT give any personal information. Glad I have caller ID.
