Unethical treatment of consumers and employees inside info

My father works for discover card and recently told me disturbing things going on in that company.

If a customer calls in complaining about a retailer or scam artist company charging thier credit card, he tells me discover card 9 out of 10 times takes the side of the retailer or scam company.

Recently, the company has been putting extreme pressure on thier employees to sell things to people calling in. For example, you call discover card to tell them about a company who keeps charging your card, they take the company's side, then try to sell you stuff. This is hard on both employee and consumer because the customer is already pissed off!!!

Now, they are laying off or firing people left and right in that company if they cannot sell things to pissed off customers calling in. People who have worked there 20 years.

My father and his co-workers go to work in fear wondering if they will be next to get cut because they could not sell enough!!! This is a customer service job, not a telemarketing job!!! And they are given a time limit to do it in!!! They are only given a few minutes to handle a call, or that goes against them too!!!

Down with all these credit card companies!!! They get away with too much!!!
