This company has been placed in the charge to collect a debt from me. At first they were very kind.in fact, the employee who sent me a letter and who was handling my account was EXTREMELY helpful and considerate of my feelings. I explained to them the reason for my situation. We had some very UNEXPECTED things happen in our life that severely effected our finances. We explained this to him and he gave us ideas on how to fix our current financial problem. He made us want to go to the moon to pay this bill. After a while and attempts to get this debt cleared we could no longer get in touch with him. They don't even see him in their list of employees. He no longer works for them. Well, we were scheduled to make a payment and due to family issues we had to cancel our payment. We explained to the man (I will refrain from using his personal name because I won't stoop to his level of administering embarrassment.) that right now our family is in survival mode. We explained that given the current state of affairs in the world we are unable at this time to make a payment. We wish to clear this up and will clear this up. But at this moment it isn't going well for us to even make a payment. When I told him that I have to make sure my kids are fed and that we have a home he said "what you have to do is make sure your bills are payed". He said "this is your bill, you need to pay it... How would you like to pay this bill in full today? Don't blame the world situation on the fact that you can't pay your bills... How are you going to pay this in full? What credit card would you like to put this on? What checking account can we set this up to take this out on?" etc. He insisted that I pay in full. How could I pay in full when I couldn't make a 200.00 payment? They wouldn't accept less. I had to hang up on him to get him to stop. His demeanor and manor in which he spoke to me was belittling and abusive. I contacted him in my car because I had errands to run with my children in the car and they witnessed the abuse. I stressed that we are just barely surviving. Just to pay the necessities is a struggle right now for us. He was very unkind and uncaring to me as a human being. He treated me and spoke to me like I was the worst scum of the earth. People should not be treated like they are scum because unexpected events occur in their lives.
I just want the people out there who are desperately trying to keep their heads above water to know that they are not alone. The honest, hard working people who don't want to be in this situation but have no control over it should not be beat up and kicked around. We are simple people who live simple lives. We have no vices. We don't go to movies or go out if it costs money. We play with our kids at home because it doesn't cost anything. We don't have cable. We don't have car payments. We don't have credit cards or store cards. We only have the necessities it takes to live. (power, gas, food, clothing, phone, etc.) We don't even have the luxury of health insurance because we can't afford for them to take any more money out of our paycheck than they already are. We don't have a mortgage. We don't have home repair expenses. WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING EXTRA! We have 4 kids and a constant custody battle that has been ongoing for 6 years. And we STILL can't make ends meet. It isn't because we are spending our money on nonessentials. It is because of our economy! Plain and simple with a big fat period at the end of that thought! OUR ECONOMY keeps the hard working people struggling to keep their heads above the water waiting to drown them.in our case, the water, for us is this collection agency who makes us feel like we should not even have the privilege of breathing in the air we have if we can't come up with the whole amount of money we owe. Or rather, should I say THIS INDIVIDUAL makes us feel that way. Hopefully the company itself can listen to their taped phone calls and get rid of the abusive employees and try with all their might to keep the ones who actually listen and care and try to help you come up with a workable plan.
