Thank goodness I saw another report on this group. Just wanted to file this in part to thank that other person for reporting, and to thank complaint for providing this service.
I did NOT get sucked in by this offer, but it is very cleverly done, and oh so wrong.
You receive a "preapproved credit card" (the way they used to be able to send you actual credit cards in the mail 10-20 years ago) with a sticky label across it saying to call the 800# and activate it.
ALL of the paperwork that comes with this card looks JUST LIKE the paperwork that comes with an actual credit card, AND you get a pre-approval letter with a "spending limit" on it, just like if this was an actual credit card. Even the card looks real, with the confusing exception that there is no VISA/MC/AmEx logo on it, but a SIMILAR LOOKING logo.
I believe this company must target people with credit problems, b/c it is big on the "you're pre-approved, join us and we'll help you build your credit back up." What it turns out to be is a shopping club that costs hundreds of dollars to join, and apparently, per the previous report, is almost impossible to get back out of, and you cannot get your $ back for "joining" b/c of the way they operate.
Stay away from these people!
I'm glad I did.
