I received a settlement letter for Verizon Md. For a past due phone bill from 1997. I had just moved and found it odd that this letter had my brand new address. I called the toll free number and inquired about why hadn't I seen this on my credit report - ever. And I wondered why they only accepted credit cards, not money orders, or pay by check over the phone... When I talked to the 'customer service rep' told me that it wasn't going to be reported to any credit agency. So of course I said, thats all I'm worried about anyway... And she hung up on me. So they can't be a real agency because NCO puts your past due stuff on your credit report immediately... So its safe to say don't send them anything&only pay whats on your credit report.
