I received a check from a Bank of America customer, and since I was near by I thought it would be convenient to cash the check at the customer's own bank. I gave the cashier, as requested, my driver's license after handling her the check. I was asked to endorse the check, which I did; And since I do not have an account at their bank, I was requested to give my finger print on the check. After all this "saga", I was informed that I will be charged $5 fee for not being an account holder at his bank. "What a ripoff" have I replied!
I requested to get back my check which I had to stamp my finger prints over and over in all directions to cover my original print.
Well, needless to say I was angry. There were no signs alerting me of the $5 'nickle and dime' scam that Bank of America has instituted. They waisted my time and their time with a stupid bank policy to gouch consumers.
As a business owner, I will request a $5 extra fee for anyone paying me with a check from Bank of America to make my client aware of what their bank is
charging. I have given a phone call to my bank Chevy Chase in the same locality to make sure that non-holder of chevy chase accounts are not charged. If it were affirmative, I would have closed immediately my account as a protest to this gouching and ripoff!
